Movie Night a Success

On the evening of July 16, MNCPPC police and staff brought a large rolling screen and speaker system and set it up in the Basketball court to show the recent animated film, “Soul”. About 70 people attended, and everyone enjoyed the drinks, snacks, ice cream, bags of freshly popped popcorn supplied by the West Lanham Hills Citizens Association. Residents helped set up and take down the chairs, clean the area, and prepare the refreshments. Park Police Chief, Stanley Johnson, who initiated the outdoor movie project was on hand. Officer Ford handled the setup of the screen and the technical aspects, and several other officers were there to help out. Many thanks to our Parks department, to the Association, and to all those who made this such an enjoyable night for everyone!

On a hot Monday evening, August 22, neighbors went to Kay Rager’s residence to pick up Back to School supplies. With tents set up, a fan, and some drinks, the team of volunteers were able to manage the heat and distribute the school supplies. Some 120 students were able to receive the notebooks, paper, pencils, pens and other items. Thank you to Wanda Brooks coordinating the event, and to our volunteers:

Kay Rager, Fulvia Guerra, Juana Gonzalez, Kimberly Torres, and Jeysl Joya.
